My web site

As for this final web site that I have been working on. There is a lot I would like to change to it. I would like to give it a little bit more flash look to it. I like the colors that I went with and it looks good to the eyes. It has nice contrast and the link can easily be found. I just wish that I knew some more about the program to put some more things in to it. I tried something different with this and didn’t put a footer on it. It doesn’t look bad without one. The bottom navigation works well alone.

I feel like there are some things missing on the sides of the page, like adds or other information. This is one thing I would like to add to the look of the site. I worked with the white space well but it could use something extra on it. Other then this I feel like my website does a good job for what it is made for and it is not to bad on the eyes. All in all I am satisfied with my work. Look out for my next site coming soon.

sobe.com

For my first site I choose www.sobe.com. This website really took me by surprise. It is made mostly of flash but it is very smooth and colorful. It has one big image for the background of the site that transition into a different image as you navigate through the site. The colors go very well with the look they are trying to send out.

The navigation of this site to me was very nice and easy to find. Located at the bottom of the site, the navigation is easy to read. As well as three images, that are links to other parts of the site. Over all it is a very impressing site that I would recommend to other people. With cleverness and very smooth running website, Sobe did a very nice job on the website.

designaddict.com

The second website that I found and enjoy surfing myself is www.designaddict.com If you like any kind of design, from home décor to web design this site is for you. They do an amazing job putting so much information into a little area. The entire layout of the home page is the navigation for the site. I think this is a really cool idea for a website.

As you start to navigate through designaddict.com you will notice that each page of the site you will see different logos on different links through out the site. This is a really good way to connect the website together. It does a good job of letting you know what page you are on by color coordinating the pages. This is a very well designed site full of information and tools. Good job design addict.

dawgsports.com

So if you know anything about me, you would know that I love the Georgia Bulldogs. So of course I would need a good website to keep up with my favorite team. This leads me to my third website I would like to talk about. www.dawgsports.com is a fantastic website to found out anything you will ever need to know about the Bulldogs. The layout of the site is easy to navigate through. It is updated to the minute with users and also being linked to other sport sites, there is no such thing as being late to hear something.

They went with school colors for the site to give a good feel. They could of made the headers smaller. They kind of take over the page as you start to going through the site. Other then that I really like the website, it is nicely laid out and somewhat easy on the eyes. So if you are Bulldogs fan check it out. I promise it wont let you down

The Imac

So it's time for a new computer and you are browsing the market. Let me help you save time and money. Buy an Imac. For what ever reason you are looking for a new machine, Macintosh is the best of the best. You all know that I am going to school for graphic design. I work on a pc at my house and work on a mac at school, they are not even close. With both of them running the same programs a pc can not keep up. With all of the talk about Windows 7, it still can not compete with an Imac. I too once loved my pc and promoted it until I sat in front of a mac and used it like a designer. You people know what I am talking about 5 programs open and running plus the internet open with 12 tabs from looking around and researching for things.

So you still want to spend 800 dollars on a pc that can be consumed with viruses or spend the extra 400 and get a machine that will last you the next 10 years. http://www.apple.com/mac/
This is the apple store for macs. Check it out and see what you think. In this day and age it is very true what they say, "you get what you pay for". So go do yourself a favor, quit looking at windows and get a mac.

The Blog...

The blog. At first I did not really understand the whole idea of a blog until recently. I never really knew why that the idea behind a blog frightened me. Really a blog any anything that you want it to be. From something about nothing, to a very important piece of work created by somebody. Blogs can be simple or amazing. For some reason it took me a while to figure out this idea. I started with the all mighty Facebook, little updates here and there. Maybe upload some work that I thought was good. I never really look at sharing things online with so many people. They it just hit me, they are doing it to. It is like having friends and knowing whats going on with them even if you don't have time to see them during the day, week, month, evens years. It is the best source of communication available.

Any way back to the blog. The blog is almost like a status update but more into detail. It is like expressing yourself to who ever would like to follow and listen to what you have to say about things. Here I am on a blogging web site, blogging about a blog. I had to say it. My Godless website is almost complete, stay posted for link coming up.

Trouble at sea

So it has been awhile since I have got back on here to write a blog. Well I am back. I have recently found out the difference between building a website and designing a website. The thing is when you are building a website you start from the ground up. When designing a website you have to look at the whole picture. I am trying to figure this out this better though. The project that I am currently working on is on a controversial subject. Well I went to the top of the list. Is there a God? This is a very sensitive subject for a lot of people. My thing is how to design a website that ask the question, is there a God. After doing a lot of research I noticed that none of the websites on this topic really did not real design. Just links to blogs and information that somebody put up on a basic website.

So how do I go about designing a website about godless people that catches the eye. I have changed direction on this project more then any other. For some reason it is giving me trouble, but I think I am finally in the right direction and I am going for it. I will post it when I am done so you can see.

This is number two.

So for my second website that I had to make, I was given the subject of copyright. This is a very broad subject, so I started to do some research on the subject and found out a lot of information. Here is the link to my site. Digital Copyright is an informational site to let people know and understand the laws of copyright.

The site first talks about the history of copyright. If you don't know the history of copyright and how it evolved, then you really would not understand the laws today. When congress decided that it was time to make some kind of law for copyright in 1909, they called upon people of interest and sat down and wrote a bill. This bill evolved from this and from there on ever time the bill was revised the same thing happen. People of interest were invited to sit down and talk about it. This idea is a good thought, bring people in that know what they are talking about. In a perfect world that would work, not with greedy money hungry people. Then the DMCA came along.

The DMCA is the current law that we are under today. The website talks about the current laws, the hows, whys, and whats, of copyright today. So if you are interested in copyright check it out and tell me what you think.

My First Website

So I created my first ever website for a class project on downtown Lakeland. Downtown Lakeland was my first pick for this project. After looking at the web for sometime I noticed that there was not a lot on the internet that talked about the different lifestyles that downtown Lakeland had to offer.

This was the first time that I have ever done anything in Adobe Dreamweaver, but after right the code first and understanding it, I was able to keep up with what was going on as I did things in the program. You have to look at it like you are making a puzzle. Everything is a box and you have to fit these boxes the right way in your layout. I found this very fun and interesting. Dreamweaver also offers so much more that I still have no idea about yet, but I can not wait to figure all of them out.

This website, out of all of my work that I have done since I have started school is the one thing I am most proud of. I took all of the pictures in the making of the site and wrote all of the code for it. I built this site from the ground up. So enjoy my site.

The Language

So I have started a new class in school. I was excited about this one to. I was going to design web pages, at least that is what I thought. I get to school, sit down and get ready to learn a new program, Adobe Dreamweaver. My teacher shows up and tells us not to worry about Dreamweaver right now, but first we must learn the language of the internet. This language he was telling us about was html, and it is not as easy as you would think it would be. With carrot tops, backslashes, and command words. you really need to know what these things are before even trying to build a webpage. So after a few days of looking over and typing this code, I figured out what it all was.

Html is nothing but the content of a webpage. The CSS which I willl talk about in later post controls everything on how the site looks. The reason my teacher taught us this way, was that not to rely on what the program shows you on screen. You should be able to look at the code and see what the site is going to look like. I have only scratched the surface of web design and I love it. I cant wait to see whats next.
